The Editor Effect
Of all the women in the world, beauty editors of high-profile magazines are probably the most informed about what products actually work. Here, three editors spill their hair care secrets and not surprisingly, they include Bumble and bumble and Shu Uemura products.
Vogue Paris, Beauty Editor: Lili Barbery
“…for beach-y style, I love the Surf Spray by Bumble. If you’re going to put your hair up, it’s great because it makes your hair stay together. Anytime I go to the seaside, my hair looks great, and I wish I could keep this thickness that you get from having your hair in the water. I’m trying every shampoo I get. At the moment I’m using the Fekkai Volume line. It’s working quite well. I wash my hair every second day. It would be better if I washed every three days, but I can’t. Every second day is my limit. I used a spray by Bumble, the brown hair powder. The white stuff doesn’t work because I have brown hair and it makes your hair grey but the brown powder by Bumble is okay. I wouldn’t use it to replace shampoo, though. It’s not as fresh as having clean hair.

“But I could never get it right, so I finally resigned myself to bouncy, curly, girly hair. I don’t use that much product—Bumble and Bumble Thickening Spray and Shine Spray.”

W Magazine, Beauty Director: Jane Larkworthy
“I get my hair colored by Marie Robinson. She is a very busy woman, so her assistant Kimberly Cannon started doing my hair, and I’ve been going to her for nearly a year now. I get my hair cut by Valery Joseph, who gave me lots of layers for the first time late Summer, and they’ve been kind of game-changing. It was a good update for me. I love the Bamboo line from Alterna, it has kendi nut oil in it, and it makes my hair really smooth. I also love Shu Uemura’s Cleansing Oil Shampoo.”
